Dr. Mercedes Fisher, a noted expert on educational technology, is best known for her research and development of collaborative learning models in both face-to-face and online learning communities. She has spent the majority of her 15-year career studying interactive learning environments with a focus on learning, facilitated, but not controlled, by technology. She has lectured and published widely and is the author of two internationally used undergraduate and graduate textbooks on learning, technology, and design.

She was recently a recipient of the Fulbright Scholar award 2005-2006 for her project "Better Learning through Technology", and named Fulbright Senior Specialist 2002, while at Pepperdine University. She was a three-time distinguished Scholar at Marquette University, 1997, 1998, 2000, and winner of both the Outstanding Faculty Member Provost's Award and Faculty Advisor of the Year at Colorado State University 1996.

Dr. Fisher is a highly motivated and skilled professional who has taught a variety of courses in the area of learning, teaching and educational technology leadership in both face-to-face and online environments. She has conducted research on educational technologies and promoted a more learner-centered approach to instruction.

She has worked with grants from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice programs, U.S. Department of Justice, Microsoft Corporation, NASA, The U.S. Department of Education, Technology Literacy Challenge, Wisconsin Dept of Public Instruction, Digital Action and Knowledge Skills Economy Passport in Ireland.

Dr. Fisher is also founder and President of Interactive Learning Design, LLC, for which she has consulted with public and private universities, both national and international, public museums, software companies, and with the Public School Systems of Los Angeles, CA, Pueblo, CO, and Milwaukee, WI.
